Exercising in the Forest Fitness Centre.

In the very centre of the picture ... This is not an "Eddie the Eagle" Look-alike; - this is an exercise 'Low Back Extensions' for a strong spine. This trainee has severe osteoarthritis and is using this machine to stretch and strengthen his lower back.

All are enjoying the exercise ... although there is clearly one thorn between two roses !

These exercise bikes are used for 'Warming Up' before the main exercising starts as well a 'Warming Down' period. This will bring the heart rate down to normal levels after a really good Work Out - then the Trainee can safely leave the Fitness Centre.

Walking back to fitness and chasing those calories.

This shows how the different machines are used for a range of exercises for differing needs. The walking machines at the back can be set for the flat, up hill, walking or running to produce a variety of exercises. Each Trainees programme is tailored to suit the individual.

A 'Close-Up' of this Climbing Machine clerly shows that it is both great for fitness and much easier than climbing up a mountain - and you don't need all those clumpy boots and ropes and things.

Even if you've got problems with your back and legs you can still give your arms and shoulders a 'real work-out'. This young man has a broken spine which is held together with metal plates and disc fixators.

However fit you may be this "Hip Machine" is great for mobility and stretching. You can set the machine, as here, to work just one hip or both - depending what is required.

A bit of a problem getting round such a cluttered space with a crutch but there are still plenty of exercises he can do ... once he's got onto the equipment !

This is parrt of an "Over 50's" Induction session - with the Centre's Resident Physio explaining a point of detail.

The old-time Music Hall song "Knees Up, Mother Brown" takes on a new meaning here as the Trainee puts lots of hard effort in to get those 'ABs' working.

It's not all sweat and hard work ... Here we see Social Interaction - To exercise the Jaws & Tongue !
