The new Healthy Lifestyle Centre will be approximately 8,300 sq. ft, it will be integral with the on site Sports Hall which then can be used for staging weightlifting or powerlifting competitions up to international level. The building has been designed to incorporate the various components of a Healthy Lifestyle Centre aiming to meet the needs of the Forest's communities for the Millennium and well into the next century. Specific designated area will be clearly defined for stretching, warm up/warm down procedures, cardiovascular exercise, weight training fitness exercise machines, a free weights area with Olympic platforms and stations and the area for the fitness testing and therapy rooms. The majority of the Centre's equipment will be joint use to facilitate disabled users and its position on the site will allow for ease of disabled parking and access. Specific equipment will allow for wheelchair coupling. The New Centre will continue its education programme on an increased scale, not only is it a Satellite site for Gloucestershire University and a training centre for the Northern Institute, but it is to be used for an Instructor's Training Site for training providers and N.G.B's. These courses will be fully accredited by the appropriate N.G.B's and awarding bodies. |
