A new Healthy Lifestyle Centre needs to be built to better accommodate existing and potential users. This new Centre will be specific to house a free weight/exercise hall and will be designed as a Centre of Excellence for powerlifting for people with learning/physical disabilities. A Centre of Excellence for Olympic lifting and mainstream powerlifting, it will incorporate a fitness testing room, therapy room, which will be used by Physios and Masseurs for the treatment of muscular/skeletal problems, motor neurone diseases in children, back injury clinic, sports injuries and massage for stress related syndromes. There will be a Special Needs toilet and shower facility for wheel chair users.
The number of people attending the Centre for exercise following recommendation from their Doctor or their Physio is increasing all the time. People over the age of 60-70 are now aware that exercise is essential to maintain their quality of life - and the special sessions we hold for the Over-50's are now over-subscribed. We need the enlarged new Centre to meet the increasing demands being placed on us.
We receive trainees from all over the County of Gloucestershire, also from Herefordshire and Gwent. People from all areas of the Forest of Dean attend.
